Asking God for Help

Child's hand wrapped in adult's hand

I have big dreams and goals for 2012. I love that a fresh new year is spread out ahead of us, waiting for us to take action.

With big dreams comes anxiety at times. I know my weaknesses, my inadequacies. They mock me when I look at my list of goals for the new year.

This morning I read this verse:

“When I said, ‘My foot is slipping,’ your love, O Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.” (Psalm 94:18-19)

It’s good to remember that I’m not alone in feeling unsteady, weak or anxious at times. Here’s the hard part, though: I need to ask God for help. It’s his love that meets me in my weakness.  There’s a consolation, a comfort, that only God can bring.  I want to experience the soul-joy that comes from God’s unique consolation.

I pray that you’ll ask God for help today.  That you’ll feel his presence and consolation.  I pray that where there’s anxiety or weakness in your life, you’ll ask the one who knows you best for support and be washed in the comfort of His love.

Take a moment and talk to God about your anxiety.  Ask for help.  You’re in good company.

I don’t think I’ve read that Psalm before! So beautiful and comforting! Thanks for leading me to it and for the reminder to just ask.
